Bennett & Williams was founded in 1980 as a scientific consulting firm specializing in geology and earth sciences. By the mid-1980’s, Bennett & Williams established an environmental engineering facet and created a GIS specialty. After 2005, the company further expanded its professional services to include disaster planning, mitigation and recovery, with a focus on research to create sustainable solutions to existing problems.
We work in partnership with clients and regulatory agencies to achieve technically innovative, cost effective, and compliance-oriented project objectives. This approach has resulted in the first Virginia Brownfields Initiative for revitalizing a solid waste management facility, over 99% success rate in siting water supply sources, and inventive solutions for achieving compliance based on site-specific geologic and hydrogeologic conditions.

The Virginia Office offers a wide range of environmental and disaster science specialties, designed to meet the unique needs of the region. The seven physiographic provinces of Virginia present challenging technical context within which solid waste management, mineralogical resource valuation, water supply development, gas management, environmental and disaster planning scenarios are developed. Resource protection, rehabilitation and remediation are increasingly critical, as suggested by recent federal and state regulatory initiatives proposals. Bennett & Williams strives to stay ahead of these policy changes and on the forefront of the scientific research in order to provide the best possible value to our clients.
